Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The mixture of asphalt concrete with addition of recycled plastic materials MR8 has been use on two road segments from the central Straseni district. The mixture is made of an arrangement of recycled polymers and is conceived to extend the bituminous binder in a mixture of asphalt, thus reducing the volume of bitumen needed by 5-10 per cent, according to the State Administration of Roads (ASD).

“The addition in the asphalt mixture MR8 is meant to replace the unchanged bitumen to a lower cost, cutting, at the same time, the emissions of CO2 and the use of derived resources from fossil fuel. Two segments of national roads from the Straseni district were selected to test the product: M5 Border with Ukraine – Criva – Balti- Chisinau – Tiraspol – border with Romania, km 243.30 – 243.58; G82.1 Straseni - M5, km 0,00 - 1,00,’’ ASD informed today.

The use of the mixture of asphalt concrete with addition of polymers of recycled plastic materials MR8 will lead to significant savings in costs. The MR8 producer, the MacRebur Company of Scotland, is set to invest about seven million euros for organizing the production in Moldova of the mixture of polymers made our of recycled plastic materials, which will lead to a decrease in the purchasing price of MR8 and will minimize the negative impact on the environment.
