Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - Head of state Maia Sandu received the former presidents of Moldova, Mircea Snegur, Petru Lucinschi and Nicolae Timofti, at the headquarters of the Presidency today, the presidential press service has reported.

„I was happy to receive on visit, at the Presidency, the former presidents of Moldova, Mircea Snegur, Petru Lucinschi and Nicolae Timofti, who expressed their firm support for our country’s European integration. We exchanged opinions on the governance’s agenda of reforms, including the reform of the higher education and research sector,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The discussions were also focused on other important subjects for Moldova. ‘’We discussed the challenges we face in agriculture, in the energy sector, as well as about the challenges triggered by Russia’s war against Ukraine. We referred to the solutions the authorities are preparing, in order to support the citizens and agricultural producers on this difficult period,’’ the Moldovan president noted.

„Moldova went through more difficult periods during its history and each crisis gave us important lessons and moved us forward. Despite the crises through which Moldova goes now, the country can get out of them successfully, if we turn to good account and support the most precious thing we have – the people. And the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union gives us certainty that we are not alone before the calamity,’’ the head of state also said at the meeting with the three former Moldovan presidents.
