Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state has been extended by another 60 days in Moldova starting from 8 August 2022. The parliament adopted a decision to this end with the votes of 52 MPs.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita presented the request for the prolongation of the emergency state in parliament plenum. ‘’The need to extend the emergency state is reasoned by giving possibility of quick intervention of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), in order to ensure the energy and food security of the country, given that the war in Ukraine affects, in continuation, the commercial, connections, logistic chains, including of food products and supply with oil products,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
Thus, during the emergency state, CSE will issue compulsory and executory instructions for the heads of the central and local public administrations, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who are in Moldova.
The parliament’s opposition boycotted the draft and walked out of the session hall.
The state of emergency was established in Moldova on 24 February this year, with the unleashing of the war in Ukraine.
