Chisinau, August 18 /MOLDPRES/- Two hearing rooms from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) and one from the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service (SPIA) of the MAI have been modernized. The rooms were renovated and equipped within the project Support for the reform of law enforcement institutions in Moldova, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the financial support of the US Government.
According to UNDP, the two rooms are located in the headquarters of the MAI. They were equipped with air conditioning system, fire alarm and video monitoring. All spaces were soundproofed and energy-efficient lighting was installed. At the same time, an adjacent space was set up where the technical means of communication and monitoring are located.
In the framework of the same project, a hearing room and a storage room for keeping criminal bodies were equipped at SPIA. The hearing room is used for interviewing people in criminal cases filed for committing corruption offenses or other illegalities. The installed equipment allows the complete recording of the testimony or hearing process. Later, the information is analyzed to be used in the criminal process, without the possibility to intervene on the content. At the same time, the storage room in the SPIA headquarters is used to store the bodies of crimes and other objects related to the criminal cases examined.
"A modern security system must be transparent and accessible for the defense of the parties. Thanks to the support of the institution's strategic partners, we were able to rebuild these hearing and evidence storage rooms. We thank the representatives of the UNDP and the US Government for their constant support in the modernization of the internal affairs system", said the secretary general of the MAI, Serghei Diaconu.
The total area of the modernized rooms is 70 square meters, and the costs of reconstruction and furnishing were about 500 thousand lei (about 25 thousand euros).
