Teleradio-Moldova signed memorandum of understanding with Georgian public broadcaster

Chisinau, August 22 /MOLDPRES/- Teleradio-Moldova Company director-general Vlad Țurcanu and his counterpart from the public broadcaster from Georgia, Tina Berdzenishvili signed today in Chisinau a memorandum of understanding that is part of the reform of the national broadcaster in the Republic of Moldova.

"Georgia will send us a modern architectural project, after which new headquarters and studios were built in Tbilisi. This project is part of a complex program to reform and renovate the "Teleradio-Moldova" Company, which we plan to carry out together with external partners", Vlad Ţurcanu said.

The new headquarters provides offices, studios, a modern separate module, and which will have an area of ​​about nine thousand square meters. The project is to be implemented in 30 months, its cost being 17 million euros, without equipment. "The equipment will be purchased later, from own funds and from donors", he said.

Georgian Radio and Television has been in such a process of reorganization for three years, during which it managed to implement a modern editorial organization formula, which includes, among other things, an integrated system of TV, radio and multimedia news. "In order to fulfill its public mission of broadcasting educational, cultural and entertaining programs, to be representative of the whole society, to develop as an entity in which all groups in society can be found, Georgian public television encourages and finances productions of independent studios with which they complete their broadcast schedule", Țurcanu said.

He emphasized that there is considerable similarity between the problems and applicable solutions between the two public broadcasters in Georgia and the Republic of Moldova.
