Moldovan PM has meeting with members of delegation of International Labour Organization

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - The need to strengthen the social dialogue, in the context of Moldova’s European integration process, as well as of continuing the government’s cooperation with representatives of Trade Unions and Employers was examined today at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO), led by the director of the ILO Office for Activities of Employees for Europe and Central Asia, Maria Helena Andre, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.       

Attending the meeting were the head of the National Trade Unions Confederation of Moldova, Igor Zubcu and the institution’s deputy head, Sergiu Sainciuc.   

At the meeting, Natalia Gavrilita referred to measures undertaken by the cabinet in the labour and social protection sector, such as the increase in the minimum salary on the economy to 3,500 lei and of the minimal pension – up to 2,000 lei. At the same time, funds were created for backing the vulnerable residents and the allowances for bringing up children were increased.   

„The government was focused much on the implementation of projects to support the population. We have recently launched a new round for increasing the salaries. Now, we focus our efforts also for backing the business environment, affected by multiple crises, which hit our region,’’ the PM said.     

Representatives of the International Labour Organization appreciated the qualitative leap in the social dialogue, as well as the government’s effort in the process of the transposing the national legislation to the European directives. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining the stability of the legal framework for better investment attractiveness.  Also, they appreciated the cooperation of the cabinet with the Trade Unions and Employers, within the National Commission for Collective Consultations and Negotiations, which holds weekly meetings at the government.
