Solar energy becomes attractive source for households

Chisinau, 9 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- More and more citizens have started to install renewable energy systems, the most popular of which are photovoltaic panels. The government and the parliament have recently simplified the connection of installations of this kind to the national electricity system, in the case of own consumption, reducing the connection terms, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"We have solar panels with a generating capacity of 9.75 kW and that is enough for all the energy consumption of the house, including heating. Since we put the plant into operation, we have no more expenses for electricity. Before, we paid around 800-1,000 lei monthly", says Dumitru Petrari from Pepeni village, Sângerei district, the first householder in the locality to install solar panels on the roof of the house.

According to State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development Constantin Borosan, to simplify the installation procedure of electricity production systems from renewable sources, in July the government and the parliament approved amendments to the regulatory framework, which reduce terms and costs in the case of own consumption.

In late 2021, over 400 renewable energy installations were connected to the national electricity grid, according to the principle of net metering. Net metering assumes that electricity generated by household producers is delivered to the grid during the day when it is in surplus. At night, energy is consumed from the network, and at the end of the month, the balance of energy production and consumption is made.
