ANRE modified Methodology for calculating regulated prices for natural gas supply

Chisinau, 13 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Board of Directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved at today's public meeting the changes to the Methodology for calculating, approving and applying regulated prices for natural gas supply.

The changes will allow prompt intervention to adjust regulated prices to market conditions, in order to avoid the inability to pay regulated suppliers. "In the conditions of major variations in the purchase price of natural gas, with a sharp upward trend (unprecedented situation on the natural gas market), gas suppliers who purchase natural gas from external suppliers face a cash deficit when purchasing gas, which can jeopardize their ability to pay", ANRE said.

According to the Regulation on emergency on the natural gas market, approved by government decision, as a preventive measure the application of an appropriate tariff policy is established, which ensures that the regulated prices fully cover the minimum, real and necessary costs of the natural gas enterprises in connection with carrying out their activities on the natural gas market, as well as avoiding and not accepting the situation of accumulating debts towards external suppliers.

The purposes of working out the Methodology amendment project are: adjusting the secondary regulatory framework to the new provisions of the primary legislation; exclusion of equivocation in the interpretation and application of the provisions of the Methodology; ensuring the efficient operation and ensuring the financial viability of natural gas companies by setting regulated prices that cover the minimum, real and necessary costs related to the conduct of regulated activities.

"Given the emergency situation on the natural gas market and the need to ensure the security of natural gas supply, the changes will enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of Moldova", ANRE said.
