Chisinau, 26 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The first oil tankers, which will replace the state reserve arrived today in the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development made the statement today.

The government is preparing for the cold season of the year.

To ensure the necessary fuel for the cold period, on 15 September the Commission for Emergency (CSE) decided that the Termoelectrica Joint Stock Company will sign contracts for the sale and purchase of fuel, in the amount of up to 190 thousand tons.

The purchase made by Termoelectrica will be exempt from the payment of value added tax, excise duty and customs duty, for a period that will not exceed 31 May 2023. The transportation of the fuel will be ensured by the Moldova Railway State Enterprise.

In mid-September, Termoelectrica announced that it has fuel oil reserves to ensure heating services for a month and a half. The heating season would start in mid-October. Thus, according to estimates, the fuel oil in reserves would be sufficient to ensure heating services until November inclusively. At the same time, the 190 thousand tons of fuel oil to be procured would be sufficient to provide thermal energy throughout the cold period of the year.

Due to the energy crisis and the high price of natural gas, the authorities announced that Termoelectrica will switch to fuel oil. At the same time, public institutions are to be connected to the centralized heating system to save financial resources.
