Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today paid a working visit to the Holercani settlement, eastern Dubasari district. The results of a project on enhancing the energy efficiency of the local lyceum were unveiled at the event, the presidential press service has reported.

The lyceum’s building was thermally insulated, the doors and windows were replaced and photovoltaic panels fully cover the institution’s needs of electric energy, with the assistance of the European Union and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), which carried out the renovation works. The consumption of electricity was considerably decreased and better conditions were created for pupils and teachers to be educated and work.

In the context, Maia Sandu said that ‘’the ensuring of energy security is a priority of the governance. The investments in the energy efficiency of public buildings, homes and enterprises will help us diminish the costs for energy resources, as well as respond to the environment challenges, which are more and more frequent because of the climate changes. I am happy that, due to our development partners, similar projects are carried out in dozens of settlements of Moldova, which are to change the lives of thousands of people for the better.’’

The head of state also thanked the Holercani residents for their contribution to the implementation of this project. ‘’This is a very good example of community involvement, as all children of Moldova deserve better conditions for education,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
