National Probation Inspectorate of Moldova has new deputy director

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The National Probation Inspectorate (INP) has a new deputy director. Sergiu Margarint today was introduced to the INP staff and will also exercise the powers of the INP director till his/her appointment.
Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco wished success to the new deputy director, noting that the expectations were high and the probation system needs substantial changes. ‘’Concrete actions are necessary for strengthening the integrity and professional capacity of the probation system, enhance the citizens’ confidence in the probation advisers, as well as the change of the social perception for the people released on condition,’’ the justice minister stressed.
Litvinenco reiterated that the ministry would support the initiatives for the development and optimization of the work of the probation system, which should become a real reliable alternative to detention and contribute to maintaining the degree of safety in communities.
The probation is an alternative measure to detention, which supervises the way the concerned people serve non-custodial punishments, people who infringed the law are socially reintegrated, in order to reduce the repetition of offences and enhance the degree of social safety.
