Moldovan head of state has meeting with president of Switzerland

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu greeted President of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis in Chisinau today. 

According to the presidential press service, the visit to Moldova by President Cassis is the second one paid this year and represents a clear proof of support in the context of the challenges faced by the region, the Moldovan president said. In the context, the two officials tackled issues of security, difficulties in the energy sector and the economic situation in Moldova. ‘’I stressed that we count on the support of Switzerland in the development of the energy sector from renewable sources and emphasized the importance of signing a free trade agreement with the European Free Trade Association for our exporters,’’ the head of state said.    

Also, President Maia Sandu and her counterpart Ignazio Cassis discussed the bilateral cooperation, given that Switzerland is an important development partner of Moldova. ‘’We established that we would agree together on the support fields for the next years. President Cassis showed enthusiasm about returning to Moldova next spring, at the second summit of the European Political Community – a platform useful for identifying solutions to the common problems faced in the European countries,’’ Maia Sandu said at the meeting with President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis.
