British authorities to firmly support Moldova on path of reforms, European modernization

Chisinau, Oct. 27 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration had a meeting in London with his British counterpart James Cleverly.
According to MAEIE press servic, Popescu tackled the security developments caused by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the consequences for the Republic of Moldova, including in terms of energy and European security.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will further support the country in strengthening capabilities in the home affairs, defense and hybrid threat resilience sectors. In commercial and economic terms, the mutual benefits of the free trade area are being adjusted and investments in both countries are to be increased.
"I mentioned the common interest in the further development and deepening of Moldovan-British strategic relations, including for the benefit of our diaspora. I pointed out in the discussions with the minister's team the need to move forward on the subject of driver's license conversion, and develop some initiatives in the cyber security.
I am happy to be the first head of a European diplomacy to visit London after the reconfirmation of my colleague James Cleverly as Foreign Minister, on which occasion I wished him success in this responsible mandate", said Popescu.
Popescu pays working visits to Prague and London this week to address the European agenda, energy security and assistance for the development of the Republic of Moldova.
