Chisinau, Tiraspol to continue discussions to coordinate actions on rationalizing energy resources' consumption

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - Chisinau and Tiraspol have not managed to reach compromise as to coordinating the actions, in order to rationalize the consumption of gas and electric energy. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian today made statements to this effect after the working meeting in the 1+1 format.    

At a news briefing, the official stressed that the participants in the meeting had discussed the energy crisis and eventual measures to overcome it. ‘’The meeting had a limited success, but was useful. The groups of experts will subsequently analyze technical and legal details, which would allow to partially settle the problem. We will analyze the risks emerged in the case of a ceasing of the gas supply from Russia. We must take into account all scenarios, including the negative ones,’’ Oleg Serebrian said.   

At the same time, according to the deputy PM for reintegration, Tiraspol cannot confirm the continuation of the delivery of electric energy, as this comes from the volumes of gas transported. ‘’We are to hold a new round of negotiations, during which we will repeatedly tackle the subject of energy crisis. We know that certain things can be done, in order to ease the burden of crisis for the citizens from both banks of Dniester. We must know what we do, if the gas supplies are stopped. It is necessary that we coordinate the actions. Also, it is important that we give a signal to the society that the dialogue continues and that we can find compromises,’’ Oleg Serebrian said.  

A working meeting of the political representatives in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement on behalf of Chisinau, Oleg Serebrian, and on behalf of Tiraspol, Vitaly Ignatyev, today took place at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol, at Chisinau’s initiative. Attending the event were delegates of the participants in the 5+2 format of talks.

The participants in the meeting discussed also the difficulties presently faced by the Evrica Theoretical Lyceum from Rabnita and the issue of import of various categories of goods in the Transnistrian region. The chief negotiator on behalf of Tiraspol re-approached aspects from the banking sector and regarding the implementation of the mechanism of carrying out payments for commercial transactions made by companies from the Transnistrian region.
