Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today had a meeting with the members of the EU’s delegation to the Moldova- European Union Association Parliamentary Committee (CPA Moldova-EU), led by European lawmaker Siegfried Muresan, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The PM came up with a message of thanks to the European MPs for the support provided to Moldova in the process of integration into the European Union and getting the status of country candidate for accession to EU. The sides made a retrospective of the actions undertaken by Moldova’s authorities, in order to implement those nine conditions formulated by the European Commission for achieving the country’s European aspirations.

In the context, Natalia Gavrilita expressed Moldova’s interest in an as quick as possible accessing of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA), in their capacity of new candidates to EU.

„We are grateful for the assistance provided for strengthening the energy security of the country. On this difficult period in the world, in the context of the energy crisis, which grows in Moldova, we need ever more support on behalf of our partners from the West, including through the budgetary financing and creation of a mechanism of solidarity within the EU Energy Platform,’’

„This is the first visit by the Association Parliamentary Committee, after Moldova got the status of country candidate for accession to EU. Most of my colleagues from the European Parliament understand the fact that, by providing support to Moldova, we help ourselves. We received the messages with which you had come up and we will bring them to the platform of the European Parliament,’’ Siegfried Muresan said.

Among the subjects discussed, there are also the situation in the energy sector, macro-economic developments and efforts of establishing jobs and businesses, as well as the justice reform, which represents, in continuation, one of the major priorities of the cabinet. The prime minister noted that the new Strategy and Action Plan on ensuring the independence and integrity of the justice sector for 2022-2025 are under implementation. In the context, the EU delegation’s members said that decision-makers would analyze options as to the providing of the needed financial support for the implementation of these initiatives.
