Over 60 thousand trees, shrubs to be planted in Chisinau

Chisinau, Nov. 7 /MOLDPRES/- More than 60 thousand trees and shrubs are to be planted in the capital. The action will take place as part of the tree planting campaign, launched today by the local authorities.

According to the municipality, the trees are to be planted in parks, squares, on the territory of schools, kindergartens and in public places where the dry trees were cleared. At the same time, the Alley of Friendship and Alley of Doctors are to be planted.

The green space development works will be carried out in November throughout the country. This year, the National Environmental Fund has allocated more than 2.5 million lei for the procurement of planting material and the greening of the plot.

The Republic of Moldova has a forest cover of about 11% of the country's surface. Annually, two afforestation campaigns are held in the country, in spring and autumn - National Greening Day.
