Moldova's Delegation to Joint Control Commission reiterates need to evacuate illegal posts in Security Zone

Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ - A weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) was held in Bender today. The participants in the event approved a new military observer on behalf of Moldova, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

The subject of the Transnistrian power wielding structures’ posts, illegally set in the perimeter of the Security Zone (ZS), was priority on the agenda of discussions of the Moldovan delegation.

Thus, the Moldovan delegation drew attention to the inadmissibility of the work of the so-called ‘’border guards’’’ posts, which by their placement create conflict situations and excessively violate the rights and freedoms of the citizens who live in the Security Zone. This was elucidated in the report of the Joint Military Command for 2-8 November 2022, with the pointing out of a 4 November incident nearby the Cocieri village, Dubasari district.

The Moldovan Delegation’s representatives reiterated the position of principle on the compulsoriness of removing the illegal posts, as well as the need of observing the status of the peacekeeping mission, with the enforcement of the present mechanisms, in order not to allow impertinent manifestations in ZS.

In the context of the issues tackled, the OSCE Mission presented a report on monitoring the situation in ZS, thereby confirming the presence of barriers/posts of blocking the free movement, set unilaterally and without JCC’s agreement, with the armed staff of the power wielding structures.

It is worth mentioning that Tiraspol’s representatives during more working meetings have been proving lack of receptiveness to reach a consensus decision on the subject.

Additional consultations to this end will take place at the next JCC meeting in Bender.
