Chisinau, Nov. 19 /MOLDPRES/- On the sidelines of the Francophonie ministerial, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu talked with Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Cultural Institutions of Belgium, Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Nikolay Milkov.

According to the MAEIE press service, the head of diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova appreciated the solidarity of the Belgian authorities with our country in the context of the dramatic consequences of Russia's unjustified war against Ukraine, and their consistent, sincere and selfless support in our irreversible path to the European Union.

"Together with the minister, we also talked about ways to strengthen our energy security and improve the impact on the economy," said Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu.

At the meeting with Ioannis Kasoulides, the officials agreed on the dynamism and deepening of bilateral contacts but also on the joint development of initiatives for the benefit of the citizens of both states.

Popescu communicated to his Cypriot counterpart about the progress made on our country's internal reform agenda towards European integration and the security situation in the region, in the context of Russia's unjust war of aggression against Ukraine.

The officials also discussed other topical files on the agenda of both states in bilateral, regional and multilateral terms.

Together with Nikolay Milkov, Popescu exchanged views on the regional situation caused by the war in our region, the severe economic and social damages felt by the citizens, and our full solidarity with Ukraine.

"We discussed the issue of regional energy security and how to become more resilient in the current energy crisis.

The opportunity to participate in the high-level event in Djerba of the francophone family gave us the opportunity to discuss the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of education as well, including how to jointly develop the State University of Taraclia", concluded the Moldovan official.
