Moldovan president attends OIF Summit

Chisinau, Nov. 20 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu participated on Saturday in the 18th Francophonie Summit, the presidential press service has reported.
In the message addressed to the heads of state and government gathered in Djerba, Tunisia, the official spoke about the unprecedented challenges generated by Russia's war in Ukraine at the regional and global level, and pleaded for the strengthening of international efforts to restore peace on the European continent.
The head of state mentioned that, currently, the whole world is facing a series of crises, the consequences of which deeply affect our populations, and the biggest challenge of the moment is the unprovoked, unjustified and illegal war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine, the state observer of Francophonie. Maia Sandu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova strongly condemns this war, which deeply affects our country, and highlighted the generosity of our citizens during the refugee crisis.
The President emphasized that Russia's war against Ukraine affects international law and food security, increases global energy prices, but also nuclear risks.
"For Francophonie, this is the time to show our commitment to more cooperation and more solidarity. The Francophonie must constitute a space of solidarity and cooperation in the face of a war whose economic, food and energy repercussions are unprecedented", said Maia Sandu.
