Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - Disconnections from power supply today were registered in Moldova, in the wake of Russian bombardments against the energy system of Ukraine.

According to the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), the Russian bombardments in Ukraine led to interruptions in Moldova, as the energy systems of Moldova and Ukraine and interconnected.

The critical situation in Ukraine led to the automatic interruption of a transit line, through which electricity is imported from Romania. This interruption took place, in order to protect the networks and power stations from overload. If the automatic disconnection was not enforced, the power stations could have been seriously hit and the interruptions would last more time,’’ reads a press release of the institution.

Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu stressed that the situation from 15 November, when also power disconnected existed, had been repeated today. ‘’Following Russia’s bombardments against the Ukrainian energy system, there are massive interruptions of electric energy supply in the entire country. Moldelectrica works, in order to reestablish the connection to electric energy supply,’’ Andrei Spinu said on a social network.

The damage disconnections in the Moldovan electric energy system occurred at 14:23.

This year, the government started the construction of a high tension line between Moldova and Romania (Vulcanesti-Chisinau), with a length of 158 km, which are to be put into operation in 2 years.
