Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about an Orange Code of increase in the water level of the Dniester river till the end of November.

According to SHS hydrologists, the forecast is in connection with the increase in the discharge of the water from, the Dnestrovsk reservoir (Dniester river). ‘’The huge energy crisis from Ukraine imposes an increase in the production of electric energy at the Novodnistrovsk Hydroelectric Power Station, in order to meet the country’s needs. For these reasons, big volumes of water are discharged from the hydroelectric station,’’ the institution said.

Thus, given the increase in the daily flow of water discharged from the Dnestrovsk reservoir (Dniester river), the State Hydrometeorological Service warns about the increase in the level of water on the segment Soroca city – Dubasari town by 2.7-4.3 metres against the level recorded on 24 November (8:00), getting of the water on meadow and sub-flooding of farmlands. Hydrological Orange Code is announced on this segment.

Also, given the increase, in continuation, of the discharge of water from the Dubasari reservoir (Dniester river) up to 1,000 cubic metres/second, SHS warns about an increase of the water level by 2.8-4 metres on the segment Dubasari town – Rascaieti village, against the level registered on 25 November (8:00). Water will get on meadows in places. Hydrological Orange Code is announced on this segment.

In the context, the authorities warn the local public administration, economic agents, in the subordination of which there are reservoirs, to pay attention to the state of dams, bridges and ways of water’s evacuation, as well as to take into account the impact of the increases in the level of Dniester river water.
