Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - Chisinau has asked Tiraspol to produce an as large as possible volume of electric energy for the consumers from the right bank of Dniester. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian today made statements to this effect after a working meeting of the political representatives in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement in Chisinau.

At a news briefing, the Moldovan official stressed that the groups in charge of the energy sector had recently finished their negotiations. ‘’For us, it is important that an as low as possible price for electric energy is established, so that the citizens and enterprises are able to cope with the invoices. Chisinau came up with five proposals. On the next days, we will hold additional discussions. Nevertheless, we have moderate expectations from Tiraspol,’’ Oleg Serebrian said.

At the same time, according to the deputy PM for reintegration, the sides discussed the stability of the energy networks, in the context of the damage disconnections from power supply. ‘’The electricity networks cannot be subjected to repeated too strong shocks, as the degree of wear of the energy infrastructure on both banks of Dniester, in places, is pretty high,’’ Oleg Serebrian said.

The participants in the meeting discussed also the freedom of movement, import of medicines to the Transnistrian region and boosting the process of negotiations.

Till the end of this year, the political representatives in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement are to hold another round of talks, as more earlier approved agreements will expire on 31 December, among which the access of the farmers from the eastern Dubasari district to their farmlands.
