49 criminal cases on customs sent to court

Chisinau, Jan 5. /MOLDPRES/- Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), jointly with the Customs Service announced today that it sent 49 criminal cases to court last year in the customs field.

According to PCCOCS, in 2021 the criminal investigation resulted in 19 files sent to court. The number of seizures applied in the 49 files concerns both smuggling offenses with various goods, including cigarettes, alcohol, consumer goods, money; as well as transport units used to commit crimes, including financial means derived from criminal activity referred to justice.

At the same time, in 2023, the authority continues to investigate criminal acts in the customs field in another 113 files, with the application of security measures, with a view to the special confiscation of objects of smuggling crimes, including those used and resulting from crimes.
