Petrol, diesel prices to increase

13:26 | 16.01.2023 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 16 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) announced for 17 January the maximum retail prices of the main standard oil products: 24.20 lei/liter - for COR 95 petrol (+0.17 lei); 23.94 lei/liter - for standard diesel (+0.13 lei).

According to ANRE, the latest increases in fuel prices are mainly caused by the increase in Platts quotations for petroleum products on international exchanges, an indicator that is the basis of the current method of determining the price level. "Since the beginning of this year, Platts quotes for petrol and diesel have increased by about 100 dollars/ton. At the same time, the price of oil registered an increase of 8% the previous week, which represents the biggest increase since October 2022", explained the Agency.

At the same time, the statistics published by Globalpetrolprices.com still place the Republic of Moldova in the top four countries with the lowest fuel prices on the European continent. "Lower prices than in the Republic of Moldova can only be found in the Russian Federation, Belarus and Turkey, countries that have significant production capacities of their own and are important players in the regional logistics chain for the use of Russian oil," summarizes the cited source.
