Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - The business community from both banks of Dniester today summed up the joined partnerships, within the forum, Trans-river synergies for a more resilient business environment.

The forum took place with the support of the European Union’s Confidence Building Measures programme and the project, Developing capacities of export on banks of Dniester, financed by Sweden and the United Kingdom. Both initiatives are implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova. Attending the event were over 70 representatives of business support organizations and sectoral associations from both banks of Dniester.

„Within the Confidence Building Measures programme, since 2019, 17 projects on support of business on the left bank of Dniester, worth 500,000 euros, have been implemented. These initiatives contributed to the strengthening of the capacities of the entrepreneurs from both banks, hit by the crisis, to the formation of entrepreneurial skills and the creation of jobs. This effort allowed businesses to easier overcome the disturbances of the market, triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine,’’ Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks said.

The trans-river projects contribute to the improvement of the entrepreneurial environment through consolidating the cooperation for the development of viable solutions to the common problems and needs of the entrepreneurs from both banks. ‘’We are grateful to the European Union, Embassy of Sweden and the British Embassy for their generous contribution, resulted from the strategic partnership established during years, in order to encourage the confidence building measures. The interventions implemented by the business support organizations are meant to back the young entrepreneurs, especially women, as well as the ecological businesses,’’ the deputy resident representative of UNDP in Moldova, Andrea Cuzyova, said.

The forum, Trans-river synergies for a more resilient business environment, brought to the forefront business support associations and organizations which enhanced their capacities and developed communities for entrepreneurs. The main mechanisms of support for small and medium-sized enterprises from the right bank, accessible also for the residents of the left bank, were unveiled at the event.
