Moldovan PM says social entrepreneurship model of business from which founders, communities, state benefit

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Ltd company Floare de Cireș (Sweet Cherry Flower) from the Razeni village, central Ialoveni district, is specialized in the delivery of midday meals and providing of food services. Thirteen out of the 31 employees of this enterprise are disabled people. The enterprise also provides a free of charge programme for the training of waiters and cooks, as well as opportunities of accommodation and scholarship for those who attend these courses. Through the social canteen managed, the Floare de Cireș enterprise daily delivers about 40 free of charges midday meals to people from the community, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.       

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, who visited the enterprise today, thanked the institution’s staff and awarded the administration a diploma on behalf of the government.     

„The 2022 year was difficult and you managed to maintain and even extend a business with social impact. It is nice when the cabinet, local public authorities and business people join efforts and develop such success projects. Everybody benefit from this model of business, - the social entrepreneurship - the founders, the communities and the state. We thank you for providing jobs to people with disabilities, for the efforts and solidarity you proved last year, when you offered warm midday meals to people who were fleeing the war,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.      

In the near future, "Floare de cireș" will extend its production capacities. The works of construction of a new production section are to be finished, which will create another 10 jobs. Also, due to the support provided by the government, through the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), the building’s sewerage system will be rehabilitated.      

„In those 10 years of work, we have managed to employ more young people with disabilities. We hope that, in one month at the latest, we will move to the new headquarters, where we will open more jobs. The 2022 year was one with challenges; yet, with the support of the local authorities, the government and development partners, we manage to make progress,’’ the manager of the canteen of the social enterprise, Sergiu Gurau, said. 

The Ltd company Floare de Cireș has its own mill and a cold storage room, using preponderantly local products in the production process. In medium term, similar enterprises are scheduled to be opened in districts from southern and north Moldova.
