We had a week of European solidarity in Chisinau - deputy premier says

Chisinau, January 21. /Moldpres/- This week Chisinau authorities hosted 3 delegations from Poland, Romania and Finland who sent firm and joint support messages for Moldova's accession to the European Union, and welcomed the ambitious agenda of reforms promoted by the authorities on our path to European integration and modernization, the MAEIE press service has reported.

At a meeting with a delegation from the Polish Seijm of the members of the Foreign Affairs Commissions and Poland's relations with the EU, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu discussed with Radosław Fogiel, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Kacper Płażyitski, chairman of the EU Affairs Committee, Barbara Bartuś, deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Piotr Polak, Vice -Chair of the EU Affairs Committee (Law and Justice Party), Maciej Konieczny, deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Committee (Democratic Left Alliance), Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Agnieszka Pomaska, deputy head of the EU Affairs Committee (Civic Platform).

"I spoke to the Polish MPs about the diplomatic effort in the capacity fortification on security and defense, as well as the consequences for our country as a result of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine," said Popescu.

The Polish delegation noted that there are a number of areas in which Poland can and wants to help our country, such as: the fight against corruption, the modernization of the agrarian sector, the renewable energy.

Also, the Moldovan official met this week with Tytti Tuppurainen, Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering of Finland and State Secretary for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Daniela Garman, who were in a common visit to Chisinau for reaffirming solidarity with our country, in the context of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, as well as to reiterate the support of Romania and Finland for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.

"Together with Romanian and Finnish officials we discussed the deepening of cooperation, strengthening institutions in the context of our European agenda and identifying solutions to overcome the crises that our country faces, especially on strengthening energy resilience.

Moldova's diplomacy continues the proactive agenda on preparing important events, such as the EU- Moldova Association Council on 7 February in Brussels, the second meeting of the European Political Community on 1 June and the fourth meeting of the Moldova support platform that will be hosted by our country ”, said Popescu.
