Union motor highway from Romania might be continued up to Chisinau, Odessa

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Union Highway (A8) from Romania might be continued up to Chisinau and Odessa. Romanian Minister of Transports and Infrastructure Sorin Grindeanu has made statements to this effect after a meeting with Moldova’s Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu.
„We tackled also the subject on the modernization and construction of more cross-border road bridges across the Prut river: Sculeni Bridge; Oancea (Cahul) Bridge; Albita (Leuseni) Bridge – new bridge; Raducaneni (Barboieni) Bridge – new bridge; Bumbata (Leova) Bridge – new bridge; Falciu Bridge (Leca/Cantemir) – new bridge.’’ Sorin Grindeanu noted.
As for the railway infrastructure sector, the two officials discussed the extension of the wide-gauge railway up to the Nicolina (Iasi) Station. Thus, the trains might move on the wide-gauge railway on the route Ungheni – Cristesti Jijia – Socola – Nicolina.
The Bucharest official also said that an item of common interest was also the rehabilitation of the railway corridor Iasi - Ungheni - Chisinau - Odessa, through financing got from the World Bank.
In the air field, the sides analyze possibility to increase the number of frequencies of Romanian air operators on the segment Bucharest-Chisinau-Bucharest, as well as the diversification of destinations through the making of new flights to more international airports of Romania.
