Moldovan president conveys message to emergency rescuers detached to Turkey on humanitarian mission

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has wished much courage to those 55 rescuers of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) of the Interior Ministry (MAI). Today evening at 21:00, the rescuers, onboard of special vehicles, left for the region of Turkey which was worst hit by the earthquakes from the last two days, the presidential press service has reported.
„Two earthquakes with a particularly high magnitude shook Turkey and Syria last night and today. The earthquakes made thousands of victims; destroyed a large number of buildings and infrastructure objects and thousands of people remained under rubble. The tragedy through which the people from the regions affected are going is unimaginable,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
The Moldovan rescuers will give a helping hand, along with colleagues from other countries, to the extrication and saving of the lives of the people from the settlements hit.
„Dear rescuers, you have a long journey and a difficult mission ahead – you will work without breaks, fighting to save as many as possible human lives. We thank you for your self-denial and we are waiting for you to return home healthy! I convey condolences to the families hit by this calamity and I wish them force to work, courage and hope to all those who fight time trial, in order to save the people from the claws of the disaster,’’ the head of state added.
