Northern Region to benefit from over 93 million lei for local projects in 2023

Chisinau, February 10 /MOLDPRES/- Increasing the competitiveness and employment of the Northern Development Region, increasing territorial cohesion and preventing exclusion, improving the mechanisms and tools for implementing the regional development policy - these are the three major objectives for 2023, established by the regional authorities in the north of the country.
To achieve the priority directions of the three major objectives, the Northern Development Region will benefit from 93.2 million lei (about 4.7 million euros) for the implementation of regional development projects and programs, according to the annual funding plan from the National Fund of Regional and Local Development for this year, approved by the National Council for Coordination of Regional and Local Development.
According to Elena Boboc, head of department of the Regional Development Agency (ADR) North, important financial sources are to be used for water supply and sewerage projects, use of historical heritage, revitalization of urban areas and use of business infrastructure.
In 2022, ADR Nord initiated the implementation of 11 infrastructure projects financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL), for which 85.7 million lei were allocated from the FNDRL, and continued the implementation of five infrastructure projects financed by the European Union. At the same time, the implementation of three sub-projects financed from the FNDRL and three projects financed by the EU was completed.
Of the total amount of investments registered last year, 67.4 million lei, of which 8 million represent local co-financing, were used for projects financed by the EU and 3.2 million lei - for projects financed from the sources of the governments of Germany, Estonia, Poland and other development partners.
