Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan rescuers who have left for Turkey on international mission continue their intervention. On 12 February, specialists from Moldova, jointly with employees of the Civil Protection Service of Turkey, move to new sectors, in order to carry out the recognition of lower levels of residential buildings with detection means, reads a today’s press release of the Interior Ministry (MAI).

„The team from Moldova moved to the Antakya city for search-rescue missions. On 11 February, five residential buildings were evaluated through specialized equipment. The searches of Moldovan rescuers were made also through the involvement of two search dogs,’’ MAI also said.

At least 25,000 people were killed in Turkey, after two strong earthquakes had shaken the south-eastern part of the country on 6 February. About 6,000 buildings collapsed in the wake of the earthquakes. With the support of the Turkish authorities, rescuers from over 70 countries, including Moldova, intervened at the place of the disaster.
