Over five million lei allocated for modernizing sports fields, centres from six Moldovan settlements

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Over five million lei (250,000 euros) has been earmarked for the construction or modernization or sports fields and centres in six settlements of Moldova. The projects were included in the European Village Programme and their beneficiaries will be more than 4,000 children and teenagers.

One of the projects initiated to this end is the one on the reconstruction of the roof of the building of the sports centre from the Dezghingea, village, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. As much as 3.5 million lei was allocated for its implementation from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. About 60 per cent of the volume of works envisaged has been already carried out.

According to the National Office of Regional and Local Development (ONDRL), UTA Gagauzia benefits from 19 local development projects, the value of which exceeds 71 million lei.

ONDRL director Mihail Croitoru said that, on the next period, decision-makers planned to finish more projects included in the European Village Programme, including initiatives which see the construction or renovation of sports buildings. The Programme comprises 496 projects on development of Moldova’s settlements in all. Seventy nine out of the have been already implemented.
