National strategy to prevent, combat money laundering discussed in Parliament

Chisinau, February 22 /MOLDPRES/- The members of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Parliamentary Committee heard today implementation report of the national strategy for prevention and combating of money laundering and financing of terrorism for 2020 – 2025. It was presented by Director of the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering Service Daniel- Marius Staicu.

According to the reported information, 11 measures of the Strategy have been implemented so far. 47 measures are being implemented or are partially implemented, and 16 are not implemented for the time being.

Thus, during the year, the efforts of the authorities were focused on identifying, analyzing and perceiving the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing, which the Republic of Moldova is facing. Also, based on the proposals made by the Money Laundering Prevention and Combating Service, the Parliament approved in the first reading changes to the legal framework in the field.

At the same time, the actions that can be found in the action plan for the implementation of the Strategy refer to the beneficiary, the training of the reporting entities, as well as the prevention of the use of non-commercial organizations for financing terrorism.
