Law enforcers raided several companies manufacturing disinfectants

Chisinau, February 22 /MOLDPRES/- PCCOCS prosecutors, together with INI officers today conducted searches at several companies that produce disinfectants, in a case of tax evasion of about 800 million lei (around 40 million euros).

According to the law enforcement officers, the companies benefited from significant tax exemptions for the use of undenatured ethyl alcohol. Specifically, the companies applied for and received such an exemption as they falsely stated that they would use the product in the manufacture of perfumes and cosmetics. In reality, the product was used in the manufacture of the Covid-19 disinfectant, in enormous quantities - decalitres.

Following the searches carried out at the companies' headquarters, the law enforcement officers picked up sets of documents and information carriers for investigation.
