Moldovan, European officials approach current situation

Chisinau, February 24 /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu received a delegation of the European Parliament, made up of members of the European Parliament's Committees on Budgets (BUDG) and International Trade (INTA), visiting Chisinau, the MAEIE press service has reported.

During the discussions, the official reported on the challenges related to regional and internal security, the hybrid threats our country was facing, the efforts aimed at increasing cooperation with the EU in the Common Security and Defense Policy, as well as the measures to improve the situation in the energy sector.

"We have assured European officials that as a future member of the EU we will continue to strengthen resilience, become a regional security partner and provider.

We also talked about the process of carrying out the Action Plan for the implementation of the measures proposed by the European Commission in its Opinion on the application of the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union, about the coordination mechanism of the European integration process and the reforms carried out in all areas.

Dialogue and cooperation with the European Parliament are extremely important for Moldova, especially in the context of the EU accession process and the reforms aimed at ensuring the modernization of our country.

The MEPs talked about the importance of implementing a judicial reform, the fight against corruption, creating new opportunities for doing business and directing investments in the agri-food sector and the service sector, essential elements for ensuring a sustainable economic development", the Moldovan official said after the meeting.
