Debate on situation in Moldova to be organized in European Parliament

Chisinau, March 9. /MOLDPRES/- The political groups in the European Parliament decided today to include on the agenda of next week's plenary session a debate about the situation in the Republic of Moldova and the challenges that the authorities in our country have to manage during this period. MEP Siegfried Mureșan made the statement.

The debate will be followed by a resolution, which would most likely be adopted in the plenary session in April, said the MEP.

"Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine a year ago, I have said that the Republic of Moldova is as important as Ukraine for the security of Romania and the European Union. That is precisely why we must get involved so that the EU helps the Republic of Moldova as much as possible to overcome the current challenges, to take new measures for the benefit of the people and to be prepared for the start of the accession negotiations to the EU", said Mureșan.

The official said that next week's debate "will be a very good moment for the European Parliament to once again show all its support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova".
