Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova becomes a tourist destination which is ever more known worldwide, aligning with the principles of sustainability, digitalization and resilience, promoted by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). And this after a Moldovan delegation this month participated in two exhibitions of international importance for the tourism industry: ITB – Berlin (7-9 March) and Ferien Messe Wien (16-19 March).

During the exhibitions, representatives of the private sector and tourism industry, Culture Ministry and National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM) successfully presented Moldova’s tourist routes and attractions, giving visitors possibility to make virtual tours, taste the Wine of Moldova and familiarize with the national traditions and culture. Participants in the exhibitions established a string of new business contracts and held conversations with foreign competent companies, which showed interest in Moldova as tourist destination.

”For the first time after three years of break, Moldova returns with country stand to international tourist exhibitions. With an active participation of tourism operators, the 2023 year delegation actively promoted Moldova as a destination which can provide novel experience of culture, combined with oeno –gastronomic elements, authentic traditions, history, itineraries of hiking on undiscovered ways – curious elements for foreign tourists,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.

The schedule of the event in Berlin included the unveiling of a cross-border project titled, HERIPRENEURSHIP, and of the cultural route which puts emphasis of the intangible heritage of UNESCO, titled, Traditional wall-carpet craftsmanship in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

During Ferien Messe from Vienna, Moldova was represented by six tourist operators. The stand’s visitors took knowledge of the updated bid as regards the costs of the tour packages in Moldova for this season and got information on the agenda of cultural and tourist events in Moldova for 2023, business forums, contact data to get bids in the long run, etc. At the same time, the national portals www.moldova.travel and www.360.moldova.travel  were promoted, as well as the Smart Guide newly launched application, which represent the first source of informing people who choose to visit Moldova.

”More and more tourists are looking for truthful and updated information sources; for this reason, we continue to improve the content available on the country website. At the moment, this is one of the basic resources consulted by visitors, as it contains information on tourist destinations, as well as updated information on the geopolitical situation,’’ the ANTRIM executive director, Elena Stepanov, said.

Moldova’s presence with stand in Berlin and Vienna was organized by the Culture Ministry and ANTRIM, with the strategic support of the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project in Moldova, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
