Exhibition of French publications inauguration at Moldova's National Library

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Library of Moldova (BNRM), in cooperation with the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM), today inaugurated an exhibition titled, Nouvelles lectures en francais (New publications in the French language), on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day.   

At the event, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that the exhibition contained over 300 documents in the French language from the fields of literature, literary criticism, linguistics, French culture and civilization. Also, editions of reference, monographs, literary works, documents edited in French on the territory of Moldova, received through procurements, international exchange of publications and donations from various development partners of the National Library, were displayed at the exhibition.  

According to Pintilei, the exhibition is set to highlight the most important works of the contemporary French literature: works of the French writers laureates of the Nobel Prize for Literature; works by French writers who have milestone anniversaries in 2023; books for which French literary prizes were awarded;  works by internationally famous French and Francophone writers.     

Attending the event, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Moldova Graham Paul appreciated the exhibition. He described the latter as rich and varied, stressing, at the same time, that the French language belonged not only to France, but to everybody who know and speak it.   

On the occasion of the International Francophonie Day, ULIM pro-rector Elena Prus made a donation of books in the French language to the National Library.   

The exhibition will be opened till 30 April.
