Sculptural ensemble made up of two busts, one inscription inaugurated in Ialoveni settlement of Moldova

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - A sculptural ensemble, made up of two busts and an inscription, was inaugurated in the Country Council Park from Ialoveni, Chisinau municipality, today. The event marked the 105th anniversary of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania. Attending the inauguration were Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, President of the Romania’s Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu, the Culture Ministers from Bucharest and Chisinau, accompanied by a delegation of MPs and mayors.   

The sculptural ensemble was donated to the Ialoveni district council by the Buzau city hall, at a request by the head of the Ialoveni district, Mihai Silistraru. The sculptures were blessed by a group of priests led by Most Right Reverend Petru, Metropolitan of Bessarabia. Subsequently, the officials laid flowers at the busts of Alexandru Marghiloman and Ion Constantin Inculet.   

In his speech given at the inauguration of the sculptural ensemble, President of the Romania’s Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu welcomed the latest amendments made to Moldova’s Constitution, noting that the 105th anniversary of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania represent a reason for a great holiday. ‘’The Union of Bessarabia with Romania was not at all easy in 1918 and we today honour these two great political figures, Alexandru Marghiloman and Ion Inculet, who made this union possible. Today, after 105 years, we are here and let me say you clearly and plainly than nothing has changed. Romania will be where the duty and the voice of blood call it. Romania will defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. We will have no peace, unless the body of this country is healed of the Russian disease and I am happy to see that Moldova every day makes resolute and firm steps in the direction of Romania. And the return of the Romanian language as official language is not only a victory of the Romanian spirit, but also an act of courage necessary. Today, Romania and Moldova have one of the official languages of the European Union at the state level; in other words, to speak in the Romanian language means now to support the European values,’’ Ciolacu noted.          

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu thanked his counterpart for support, noting that the decisions concerning the Romanian language was an important one. ‘’These two forerunners, Alexandru Marghiloman and Ion Inculet, 105 years ago gave a lesson of history, a lesson of courage. They were different, but they took a historical decision, beyond the doctrine-related visions. For this reason, I wish the political establishment, at the fit moment, to prove character for historical decisions,’’ Igor Grosu said.   

According to the leadership of the central Ialoveni district, the costs for the works of drawing and molding of the busts in bronze, of constructing the pedestals and other elements of the sculptural ensemble were covered by the Buzau city hall. The Ialoveni district council allocated a sum of 130,000 lei from the district’s budget for works of molding the concrete foundation, of carriage the busts from Romania and charging customs duties for them, of arranging the territory from around the busts.      

MOLDPRES reminds that Alexandru Marghiloman was prime minister of Romania, when the Country Council (local parliament of Bessarabia) voted Bessarabia’s Union with Romania on 27 March 1918. Marghiloman received the Union Act and acted for its recognition. Ion Inculet was president of the Country Council, which proclaimed the Union with Romania by majority vote.
