Moldovan wrestler wins silver medal at European Championship

Chisinau, April 24 /MOLDPRES/- Emeritus Master of Sports Victor Ciobanu won the silver medal in the category up to 60 kilograms at the European Championship (2023 edition), reserved for seniors. The competition was held on April 20-23 in Zagreb, Croatia.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, in the preliminary fights, the athlete defeated opponents from Germany, France and Turkey, and in the semi-final he outclassed an athlete from Serbia. He had his final fight with the 2020 European champion Edmond Nazaryan from Bulgaria, losing to him. Victor Ciobanu is an athlete at the National Team Training Center.

Another athlete from the Republic of Moldova, Mihail Bradu, in the 82 kg weight category, ranked fifth. At the same time, Alexandrin Guțu, in the 77 kg weight category, also stopped one step from the podium, who, due to injury, was unable to compete for the third place and ranked fifth.
