Moldovan rescuers awarded in Turkey

Chisinau, April 26 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova's urban search and rescue team was awarded the medal of gratitude in Turkey for the assistance provided in liquidating the consequences of the devastating earthquake on February 6, 2023. The medal was awarded by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in Ankara.

IGSU deputy head, commander of the national team Alexandr Tatarov participated in the solemn event dedicated to all the rescuers who contributed to liquidating the consequences of the earthquake.

The event was held in the Presidential Complex in the capital of Turkey, where representatives of more than 80 countries participated, which came to the aid of the people of Turkey in the first hours of the devastating earthquake.

The leadership of Turkey officially thanked for the dedication, courage and selflessness shown by the rescuers, who saved human lives, as well as contributed to the recovery of the victims of the tragic earthquake.

56 Moldovan rescuers, 12 technical units and two specially trained dogs went to Hatay province in February to provide aid after a devastating earthquake.

Following the February earthquakes, more than 57,355 people were killed and more than 121,700 were injured in Turkey and Syria.
