Chisinau, April 27 /MOLDPRES/-  European Political Community Summit will be held at Castel Mimi winery on 1 June. President Maia Sandu made the statement today.

According to the president, our country will have the honor, for the first time, of hosting about 50 heads of state and government from Europe and officials of the European Union at Castel Mimi winery on 1 June.

"Moldova is gaining the respect of more and more countries of the world and is treated as an equal partner. The historic event that will take place in our country on June 1 places Moldova at the discussion table of the European states, a place that our citizens deservedly earned. On June 1, our country will host the European Political Community Summit, a symbolic moment that represents both international recognition for our country and a huge responsibility. The European Political Community is a forum established last year, where European leaders discuss solutions to Europe's most pressing problems, such as security, stability and energy resilience. On June 1, in the village of Bulboaca, at Castel Mimi winery, our country will have the honor, for the first time, of hosting about 50 heads of state and government from Europe and officials of the European Union," said Sandu.

The President mentioned that the summit will discuss "vital issues related to war and peace, the future of Europe - the future of the 750 million people working on the European continent. I mean, also about the future of the Republic of Moldova, as a European state that has chosen its firm path in the EU".

"We are working for this goal. We want to be an integral part of the European market, to sell more and more Moldovan products in EU countries, to connect to the European transport network, so that Moldovans can travel easier, cheaper and faster. We want to contribute to a better connected and more stable Europe. We want to demonstrate that we are a reliable partner, ready to actively contribute to strengthening unity and security on the European continent. For us, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the summit has a major significance. It is an international recognition, and an opportunity to strengthen our ties with European countries – with the free world. It is also a very clear message that Moldova is not alone", Maia Sandu said.

"The presence of 50 European heads in Bulboaca clearly says that Moldova has numerous and powerful friends, who support us in our desire to maintain peace and stability - at home, in the region and throughout the European continent. In these difficult times, when Russia continues to wage an inhumane war against Ukraine, the diplomatic support provided by this event is invaluable. European countries will not abandon the Republic of Moldova under any circumstances. Peace and democracy in our country will be protected. This event is also important for Moldova's European path. The heads of the member states will be here, and they will know us better. For us it is an opportunity to show that we are a peaceful, hardworking and dignified people, aligned with European values. It is to your credit, to all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, from home and from the diaspora, that Europe will come to our home", the president said.
