Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Stefan Voda region can become an important centre of wind energy in the next years, supplying with electricity more than Moldova’s needs. Energy Minister Victor Parlicov has made statements to this event at the launch of a technological hub in Stefan Voda.

Thus, four wind stations are presently set in the Olanesti settlement and two stations are connected to network in Caplani. At the same time, another five installations are planned for the next two years. Nevertheless, presently, the huge potential of wind energy is not turned to account in the zone, including because of the fact that the stability of the networks does not allow this, the Energy Ministry said.

In this respect, the authorities plan to construct, with the support of the USA, a connection line and a transformer station between two high-tension lines which go to the Kuchurgan Power Station from the Transnistrian region (MGRES)   - 400 kV Vulcanesti-MGRES and 330 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau. After this project is turned to account, the connection of the future wind parks will be possible.

„This line means less dependence on the Transnistrian region. The decision was taken, there is money, we have much work to do, including with mayoralties, in order to design and implement it,’’ Minister Victor Parlicov said.

During his visit to Stefan Voda, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov met the Caplani village, mayor, where a photovoltaic park of 200 KW is to be set within the European Village national programme in next May. The electric energy generated will be used for the street illumination and consumption of public institutions.

During windy weather, a wind station during one hour produces as much energy as an average household consumes in one year.
