Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 23 resident physicians – graduates of the specialty, Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy (ATI) – in 2023 took the On-Line Assessment (OLA) examination, organized by the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC). The OLA assessment is a compulsory component part of the graduation exam of finishing the post-graduate education through residency for all resident physicians at the specialty, Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy.

According to the press service of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of medicine and Pharmacy (USMF), the exam was held at the University Simulation Centre and lasted 180 minutes. The examination contained 120 questions and was divided into two parts: Part A (fundamental applied science in ATI) and Part B (clinical anaesthesiology, intensive therapy, treatment of pain and medical emergencies).

During the test examination, connection was maintained with OLA ESAIC, which supervised, in real time, from the computer centre: the logining , the entire process of assessment and the de-logining of candidates, concomitantly in all countries which had candidates registered for this exam.

According to the OLA regulation, the supervisers of the online assessment included representatives of both profile departments. The result of the test examination will be available in several weeks and represents confidential information. The latter is yearly conveyed exclusively to the heads of the departments and the head of the commission for state examinations at the ATI specialty, through calculating the final mark.

The tax of examination for the native candidates registered (50 euro per one candidate) was paid by the Society of Anaesthesiology and Reanimatology from Moldova (SARRM).

According to the quoted source, the recognition of the OLA examination as component part of the exam of finishing the post-graduate education through residency at the ATI specialty represents a finality of the agreements on cooperation between ESAIC, the Romanian Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and SARRM, with the support of Moldova’s Health Ministry. Due to the implementation of the OLA examination, the aligning of the theoretical competences of the residents from the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy specialty to the European standards and the ensuring of the full transparency will be possible.
