Blue Planet Sustainable Development Anthem by well-known Moldovan composer to be sung in Geneva

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Blue Planet Sustainable Development Anthem by composer Constantin Rusnac will be sung at the ceremony on the closing of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the members of the International Science Council (ISC), with the participation of international organizations with tangencies in the research and development fields, held in Paris on 12-14 May.

At the forum, the acting president of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM), academician, ISC member Ion Tighineanu and an ASM decision-maker Tudor Braniste held discussions with the president of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, professor Michel Spiro and Secretary General of the Agenda of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, doctor Luc Allemand. The dialogue’s subject was focused on the preparation of the event of official closing of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, which will take place at the headquarters of the European Organization of Nuclear Research in Geneva on 15 December 2023. Following an exchange of opinions, the participants in the dialogue backed the initiative to sing the Blue Planet Sustainable Development Anthem by composer Constantin Rusnac. The work was recorded by the National Symphony Orchestra of the Teleradio-Moldova Company, conducted by its artistic director, ASM member Gheorghe Mustea.       

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Ion Tighineanu said that the Blue Planet anthem had been launched at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova at an International Conference titled, Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development and Peace, dedicated to the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, held at the ASM’s headquarters on 28 September 2022. Well-known personalities from France, the United Kingdom, Moldova, Romania, USA and other countries contributed to the successful holding of the conference.      

”The participants in the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in December 2021, ruled to mark the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, launched at UNESCO on 8 July 2022, and the ceremony on the closing of the Year will take place at the European Organization for Nuclear Research in General on 15 December this year. The development of the basic sciences is crucial for the mankind to cope with the more and more pressing challenges of the 21st century,’’ academician Ion Tighineanu said.    

Composers, ASM titular member Gheorghe Mustea and ASM’s Doctor Honoris, the secretary general of Moldova’s National Commission for UNESCO Constantin Rusnac have been recently elected as members of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
