Moldovan deputy PM pays visit to northern Briceni district

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian, accompanied by MP Efimia Bandalac, the representative of the territorial office of the State Chancellery and of the Reintegration Policies Bureau (RPB) have paid a working visit to the northern Briceni district, RPB has reported.      

During a dialogue held with representatives of the local public administration and de-concentrated public services at the Briceni district council, the sides tackled aspects regarding their good work, ways of solving the pressing problems they face, as well as elements concerning the development of the settlements from the district.

The deputy PM encouraged the mayors and representatives of the Briceni district council to be proactive in the process of establishing partnerships with European actors, in order to identify and implement community development projects.    

In the context, following the giving Moldova of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union, Deputy PM Oleg Serebrian expressed the central authorities’ openness to provide assistance in form of trainings on the processes of applying for the pre-accession funds and their good implementation.   

Oleg Serebrian also highlighted the need to boost the cooperation between the central and local public authorities, for a better management of the communities’  topical problems.

Also, the deputy prime minister for reintegration visited the theoretical lyceum from the Corjeuti village, where he discussed with teachers and pupils of the district. During the dialogue, Serebrian emphasized the essential role of the European Union in the process of Moldova’s sustainable development.    

The final destination on the agenda of Oleg Serebrian was a fact-collecting visit to the Briceni-Rossoshany international border crossing point. The official here discussed with representatives of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police and the Customs Service the functional processes at the concerned checkpoint, ways of support, as well as the negative consequences of the war in the neighbour country Ukraine on the general situation.    

During his visit to the Briceni district and the discussions held in areas, Oleg Serebrian stressed that Chisinau was determined to continue the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with the unconditional preservation of the strategic goal of European integration, with a continuous synergy maintaining between these objectives.  

Also the deputy PM urged all participants in the dialogues to show solidarity on 21 May and participate in the European Moldova National Assembly either in Chisinau or in the district and thus to express the desideratum and the voice of the citizens for the strategic vector of Moldova’s European integration.    .
