Moldovan speaker meets delegation of European Parliament

Chisinau, May 17 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova's efforts as a guarantor of regional security were discussed by Speaker Igor Grosu and the delegation of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Security and Defence, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials talked about the management of the challenges faced by Moldova in parallel with the advancement of the European integration process and the reform agenda. The speaker said that the Republic of Moldova continues the implementation of the nine recommendations set by the European Commission in the context of granting the status of a candidate country for EU accession. "We are very determined in our approach to European integration," he said.
Grosu thanked the European Parliament for the assistance to face security challenges, strengthen the resilience of the Republic of Moldova and support in the European integration process.
The officials also had an exchange of views on cooperation with the EU in security and defense.
Deputies from the Subcommittee on Security and Defence are visiting Chisinau these days to discuss regional security and the implications of Russia's war against Ukraine. The main purpose of the visit is solidarity with our country, which is facing increased pressure due to the war.
