Chisinau, May 18. /MOLDPRES/- One of the most important local events dedicated to the development of business in the region, Cahul Business Summit, an event in its second edition, took place yesterday in Roşu town.

Attending the event, Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) Sergiu Gherciu said that for the development of national and regional agriculture, farmers can register higher incomes under the conditions of association with other agricultural producers.

"Now we are engaged in two important exercises, namely the harmonization of legislation to EU norms, which will facilitate the activity of farmers and the development of financial stimulation measures for the sector. Recently, climate changes are affecting our country, mainly the southern area, where we notice that drought is becoming more frequent. For this reason, in the next period, together with development partners, we will restore the central irrigation systems, to ensure access to water for farmers", Gherciu said.

According to the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture, in recent years, the investments made by farmers in Cahul district are increasing. In 2022, about 85 million lei were allocated from the subsidy fund for the development of businesses managed by about 300 agricultural producers in Cahul district.
