Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Summit of the European Political Community (EPC), due in Chisinau on 1 June, is a quite important step in the starting by Moldova of the negotiations on accession to EU and a good signal for finishing the process of implementation of the conditions imposed by Brussels. The co-chairwoman of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (PA), Ina Coseru, has made statements to this effect in an interview for AGERPRES.

According to Coseru, the most important event ever organized in Moldova, the EPC Summit due on 1 June, where 50 heads of state and government, as well as EU decision-makers are expected to come, is a good occasion for a string of ‘’quite clear messages on behalf of the European leaders on subjects of major interest.’’

“Moldova wants to get green line on behalf of Brussels for starting the negotiations on accession to EU in 2023, simultaneously with Ukraine – along with which it got the status of country candidate in June 2022 – although it is aware that a prolongation of the war in the neighbour country might delay this stage from the accession process,’’ Coseru noted.

The co-chairwoman of the Euronest PA admits that Moldova is vulnerable because of the frozen conflict in the Transnistrian region. Yet, she says that there are many instruments which can be used to get closer the positions of the Chisinau and Tiraspol authorities, stressing that this complicated relation had been redefined including by the enhancement of Moldova’s energy independence.
