Chisinau, May 26. /MOLDPRES/- Over 60 young entrepreneurs gathered on May 22, in Tiraspol, where the final conference on Start for young people project was held. Since 2020, the European Union, through the EU Confidence Building Measures programme, implemented by UNDP has supported 39 business ideas with over 440 thousand euros.

"The European Union recognizes the importance of solving the challenges facing people and promoting sustainable practices. We therefore encouraged young entrepreneurs to develop businesses that have a positive impact on the environment, society and communities. This approach not only supports economic growth, but also promotes a culture of responsible entrepreneurship", said Magdalena Mueller-Uri, Head of Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

New businesses launched or maintained thanks to EU-UNDP support cover a wide range of services and products, such as tailoring services, culinary studios, veterinary practice, food delivery or production (biscuits, cheeses, wine, vinegar, smoked meat) and industrial (furniture, 3D printed items, bags or eco toys). During the conference, the young entrepreneurs who received grants shared their experience in the business world.

"Supporting young entrepreneurs on both banks of the Dniester River means not only promoting economic growth at the local level, but also investing in the future of the business community and strengthening social cohesion. UNDP and the European Union firmly believe in the synergy between the banks, which contributes to a prosperous common future", said Andrea Cuzyova, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Moldova.

The Confidence Building Measures program, financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, contributes to the strengthening of trust between the inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester River, by involving them in joint development projects.
